He was born in Washington, but raised in Hawaii. He is the son of an army colonel and had travelled round the world by the time he was 17. His father had many postings, including Israel and England, resulting in Baker constantly traveling. He studied in many schools including Fort Worth and London Central Elementary High School. He later attended the University of Texas at Arlington.
Baker is most well known for playing Skinny Pete, a former meth dealer and addict-turned-pianist in the Emmy award-winning drama Breaking Bad.
He started his career off with small films such as Fat Girls and dubbed for the Japanese manga One Piece. He directed, produced, wrote and appeared in his own movie, The Waterspin Project, in 2006.
