Helen Maghi was one of the world's top structural and geotechnical engineers. During the Iraq War, Helen designed a floating bridge to carry tanks and heavy armored vehicles through the Euphrates river in the dark of night, but according to Raymond Reddington, Helen Maghi's main creation was Mount Bastion, an impregnable and high security storage facility and vault for criminals carved inside a mountain of solid granite in Pennsylvania. Helen sold her expertise as an engineer to assist criminals in planning highly complex crimes such as the theft of an entire weapons cargo from the port of Virginia. Her son, a humanitarian worker assisting vulnerable and poor people in a Middle East nation-state was labeled a rebel, tortured, and decapitated by the local government, leaving Helen with a need for vengeance.
