Background
Esteban is a spymaster and the former leader of the Caravan of Death, a death squad in the Chilean army that terrorized and killed several people during the early days of Augusto Pinochet's regime. He went on to work as an enforcer for several authoritarian regimes and was eventually taken in by Fidel Castro. Recruited by the CIA to act as a double agent for the United States, he supplied them with the little information that is known about the inner workings of the Cuban government. In 1989, he faked his death for the world, though his American employers knew he was still alive.
