Unanswered Questions[]

  1. Was the Blacklist number of 66 a reference to 666, the Number of the Beast and The Beast of Revelation?
    1. A: There are no obvious Christian references in the episode or to Mato that would make 666 significant.
    2. A: No. Blacklist positions seem to be completely based on how dangerous Red deems they are.
  2. Elizabeth Keen
    1. Why did Keen save Rostov? While Agnes was the primary concern, part of it seemed to be based on family.
      1. A: She still needs answers.
    2. Who is telling Keen the truth? While Red has lied, Rostov is not a reliable narrator.
      1. A: It seems that Rostov is telling the truth because of the connections to her childhood in the Summer Palace.
  3. Raymond Reddington
    1. Why did Red risk interrupting the surgery? Nikos could have died.
    2. Why did Red buy the acre of land?
      1. A: By Red's own words, it is a diamond encased in a sea of emeralds. In other words, extremely valuable.
    3. Why can Red not get over the “betrayal” of Nemec? Liz was going to be in danger no matter what and Nemec acted in his best interest.
      1. A: Liz is Red's and Rostov's emotional weak point.
    4. Why did Red not even speak to Liz when she was brought to Texas?
      1. A: He knew that she was upset with him, so she would not have wanted to talk to him.
  4. Mato
    1. How did Mato escape Cuba and enter the United States?
      1. A: He was seen on a boat or ship, which is a common way Cubans have illegally entered the United States for years.
    2. Why did Nikos protect Mato?
      1. A: Loyalty. They were business partners.
    3. Why did nobody at the hospital call the police?
      1. A: The first woman who was told to call the police was stopped by Dembe. Dembe most likely kept the surgeons from calling the police when they were all removed.
    4. Did Nikos survive?
      1. A: We see the surgeon beginning to recommence Nikos's operation, so it's likely that he did survive.
  5. Constantin Rostov
    1. Why did Rostov see visiting the Summer Palace cottage as painful?
      1. A: He had many happy memories of the place with Katarina and Liz. Katarina possibly died and he lost Liz to Red. Going there after they were gone would remind him he was alone.
    2. Rostov’s use of the term Summer Palace was a reference to the Czars.
  6. Kathryn Nemec
    1. Who was Annie?

Slanders on the FBI[]

  1. Why did the FBI use a helicopter? It alerted Rostov to the raid.
