Background[]
Maureen Rowan is the estranged sister of Kathryn Nemec. She has been living in federal witness protection as a murder witness, with help from Raymond Reddington.
Season 4[]
“The Harem”[]
Red recounts a story to Elizabeth Keen about a housewife who witnessed a murder committed by Alexei Lagunov, and chose to testify knowing she would never be safe again. Red admits the woman was Maureen, Kate’s sister, and that he was looking for the WITSEC (United States Federal Witness Protection Program) list to make sure Maureen remained safe.
Season 9[]
“Laszlo Jankowics”[]
Red pays Maureen a visit at her current home. He asks about Kate and whether she believed Kate was still alive. Maureen points Red towards Clara Moore, who she claims was in a relationship with Kate around the time of her death. The tip on Clara ultimately sent Red to a warehouse which was meant to be a trap for Red set by “Kate”, who was visible in the open windowed floor at the top of the building. An explosive detonated inside, taking “Kate” and Morgan’s lives, and severely wounding Weecha Xiu.
“The Bear Mask”[]
Red discovers the morgue where “Kate” is being kept. He lifts DNA from the scorched body and calls Vlad Cvetko to run the DNA for a possible match for Mr. Kaplan. The DNA was determined to be a 50 percent match to Kate, leaving Maureen as the identified body from the warehouse explosion.
