Dr. Razmik Maier was a German pharmacologist and doping specialist said to be responsible for keeping 2 generations of athletes a step ahead of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). He provided steroids to the East Germans during the Cold War, EPO to United States cyclists in the 1990s, and hemoglobin based oxygen carriers to the Russian Federation in 2014. Maier also lended his services to the Boswell syndicate, America´s largest illegal sports betting organization, receiving payoffs from the Boswells to provide insider information on which athletes were juicing and on some occasions to cause his own clients to overdose on the drugs he supplied them to protect the syndicate from heavy losses.
