“The Capricorn Killer” is the sixteenth episode of Season 5 of The Blacklist and the hundred and fifth episode overall.

As Liz investigates new details in a cold case from her early work as an FBI profiler, she explores her darker impulses in therapy with Dr. Fulton. The Task Force takes action to bring down Tom's killers within the legal system, while Red takes a different approach to closing in on Ian Garvey.

   1. Why did Keen allow Fulton to escape?
      1. A: By the looks of it, to begin a network of contacts like Reddington.
   2. Fulton’s analysis of Keen is similiar to her situation in “The Deer Hunter”.
   3. Why was Keen unable to get a court order for the FBI files?
      1. A: Keen had very little proof for her hypothesis, only that the killer knew unpublished information, therefore disclosing sensitive and private information on hundreds of FBI members would likely violate the principle of proportionality.
   4. Sharon Fulton was correct about Keen’s “dark side” and self-denial.
3. Raymond Reddington
   1. What is the truth about the skeleton? Ian Garvey was waiting for Red’s statement and/or confession before going public.
   2. Who called the police to the hotel?
      1. A: Probably other guests that heard the gunshots.

A: In the next episode, a member of a forensic investigation team assigned to the vehicle after the incident explains to Elizabeth Keen and Aram Mojtabai that the team found an electronic device wired into the van that allowed wireless remote access into the vehicle's internal functions, including its engine which allowed the engine to be stalled.
   2. What was the significance of the heterochromia iridum?
      1. A: Heterochromia is a rare trait in humans, estimated at 0.1-0.5 percent prevalence, therefore it is a clue to identify the man.
5. Did Brandon Graves survive?
6. Why are the FBI files on serial killers classified?
   1. A: Possibly to avoid copycats.
   2. A: They were open cases.
