Vontae Jones is a character on The Blacklist.
Background[]
Not much is known of Vontae's life, only that he committed a crime serious enough to earn him time in a federal prison. There he met Raymond Reddington, who quickly grew close to him and took young Vontae under his wing. Vontae told Red that nobody, not even his family, had shown any concern for his life.
After Reddington left prison, he took Vontae with him, making sure he got an early parole as part of Red's new immunity agreement, and recruited Vontae to his syndicate.
Season 6[]

Vontae Jones sits next to Reddington during lunch time on his first day in the prison, they become quickly acquainted and Vontae lets him know the runaround for every thing he needs while he is in prison. Reddington takes him under his wing, taking a beating after standing up for Vontae to a man named Baldomero. They have a nice relationship, and they work together to protect each other, as well as learn from one another. Vontae trips Baldomero in the yard, saving Reddington from being stabbed and saving his life even. They get Baldomero out of prison using information from Reddington about how he lied about what got him incarcerated, and celebrate with some champagne at the end of the episode.
